The quote, "What the heck is going on down there?" was first uttered by famous golfer Seve Ballesteros, who was asked by a Spanish journalist what he thought about Tiger Woods' attempts to play in the Ryder Cup. After a seven year absence from the sport, Woods had returned to golf with a vengeance in 2003. However, he struggled at the 2003 Ryder Cup at The Belfry, where he shot a one under par 71 in the third and final round to finish tied for eighteenth place. In response to his poor showing at The Belfry, Ballesteros said: "What is going on down there?" In that moment, Ballesteros expressed his displeasure with Woods' performance at The Belfry and how it defied his own earlier prediction that Woods would win the 2003 Masters Tournament.
